Roy Dentler (vocals)
Born and raised in Pottstown, PA, Roy spent his childhood listening to the soul, rock & roll and blues-rock groups of the 60's and early 70's on radio. Later he became entranced with his dad's 78rpm records by the big bands of Count Basie, Dorsey Brothers, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman and Charlie Barnett among others. "I began singing at an early age in the church choir and made my debut as a front man when I was 10 with The Shooting Stars, a top 40 cover band. I started singing out in bars when I was 15 years old and came to blues doing Stones, ZZ Top, Zeppelin, Cream, Allman Brothers and Savoy Brown, etc covers in various rock bands, developing a gritty vocal delivery heavily influenced by jazz phrasing as well as the soulful intensity of the church. When I discovered Chess Records and the original blues recordings, I had found my muse."
Matt Schoonmaker (drums)
Dir. of Percussion & Assistant Band Dir. @ Fairmont State Univ... director of FSU Percussion Ensemble and FSU African Drum & Dance Ensemble performing throughout the state at local schools and festivals as well as campus events... received his Bachelor degree from Glenville State and Masters of Music Performance from WVU... active member of the Percussive Arts Society, Music Educators National Conference and performs with the James Atkins Ensemble in Charleston. Also an active private percussion instructor in Central West Virginia and instructs area High School Drumlines. Matt is currently an Artist Endorser for Zildjian Cymbals and is active in promoting music education and world music to students of WV.
David Sbarra (bass)
Born and raised near Pittsburgh (Carnegie, PA). Dave's musical turning point began after after watching The Beatles and James Brown on the Ed Sullivan Show. From that point on, the fire was lit and inside he knew he had to play music... musical influences are very diverse... everything from Blues to Progressive Rock and all points in between... Over the years has developed a deep passion for The Blues. "Overall, I would have to say that Muddy Waters is, by far, the one Blues artist that has had the most effect on me. Not to take anything away from all the greats, but (in my humble opinion) Muddy is The Man. As for 'Six Kinds of Crazy', it seems as if it was meant to be. The players in this band have played or nearly played with each other over the years. We came together and realized immediately that we had something special. I can't wait to see where it will take us."
Tim Hogan (harp)
"I was born in the delta region (Simpson Creek delta), and because I love blues music and suck at every stringed instrument I have attempted to play, and because I have never gotten over my infantile need to put objects in my mouth is was natural that I turned to the harmonica to satisfy my need for musical exspression. Finally something that I suck at that I don't suck at! All my music is heavily influenced by Jack Daniels and Little Walter, in that order."
Greg Kramer (Guitar)
Has been playing guitar for the last 25 years. Everything from Country to Hair Metal in many different bands. "My style has been heavily influenced by the guitar players of my youth, the mid-80's 'Shred Era', but I've tried to fuse it with my blues and jazz heroes - Chris Whitley, Joe Pass, John Coltrane, Derek Trucks, etc."
Influenced by modern blues and jazz, Greg has a deep appreciation for those who paved the way for modern blues. "The original delta bluesmen thru the Chess era electric blues musicians are in constant rotation on my MP3 player. Since joining with my fellow musicians in 6KC, I've found a rekindled love for creating music with other like minded musicians and I'm loving every minute of it!"
Eddie Bennett (Guitar/Backing Vocals)
"Music has always been part of my life." Ed's dad was a big country fan and idolized Hank Williams. His Mom is a huge fan of Southern Gospel and travels all over to Gospel Festivals. Eddie says, "if you think about it, put Hank and Southern Gospel together, it was inevitable for me to play the Blues." He started playing at age 10 and by 13 was playing in bands. "I remember playing proms at different high schools around the area and our parents would have to drive us to the gigs cause none of us had our drivers license." Things changed when he heard The Allman Brothers- 'Live at Fillmore East"... "Wow!!! Statesboro Blues, traced it back to Blind Willie McTell and been a student ever since." "I've jammed or been in bands with most blues guys from North Central WV over the years, and enjoyed every minute of it, but I've never been in a collaboration like 6KC before... creative juices flows like I've never seen... best thing about these guys is egos are checked at the door... very intelligent musicians, and when we are not playing, we're laughing... most fun I've ever had in a band... also thank my wife for being so supportive, cause I couldn't have done it without her."
